This is Ziggy Cole. Ziggy is a four year old, female Boston Terrier. She presented to our clinic on 9/30/10 for a scheduled cesarean section. We scheduled Ziggy for cesarean due to a previous difficult labor. She produces very large puppies.

Cesarean section in veterinary medicine is an energetic, fast-paced process. Our nurses take the puppies as they are removed from the uterus and revive them while the veterinarians work on the mother. A successful cesarean requires a precisely timed team effort.

In Ziggy's case, 6 healthy Boston Terrier puppies were birthed and successfully revived. Ziggy's owners opted to end her breeding career and a spay was performed following the cesarean. The puppies and mother recovered without incident and were sent home with the proud owners that day. An intense but rewarding experience for the staff here at Animal Clinic of West Lake Worth.
